Traveling soon? How to travel with your skincare routine and ACTUALLY doing it.

As professional travelers with no airline miles to prove it (who remembers their airline member number anyway), here are a few tips we live by to make sure your skin looks the best for those vacation selfies.

We all have the illusion that when we are on vacation we are finally going to have the time to put on our full-on skincare routine in our white robe, pretending it’s a “Vogue, beauty routine.” Been there, and have not done that.

Like the meme says, ‘my vacation starts as soon as I pass airport security’. Therefore, we are going to keep it simple, traveling is about fun and feeling carefree. It is super important to not forget about our skincare since we are more prone to clogged pores due to lack of moisture in airplanes, and the change of weather.  Last thing we  need is an uninvited pimple to pop up in our beautifully-esthetic vacay pictures.

Step 1: Cleansing

Vital first step to looking and feeling good. Every artist needs a clean canvas and this one is yours. A foam face wash can help with extra dirt and build up from public transportation and create extra lather to ease the rubbing part on the skin. Tend to avoid cleaning wipes since these can irritate the skin when rubbing and can sometimes cause pores to open more.

Step 2: Tone or use a Hyaluronic Acid (HA)

Important to apply this step after patting our face with a  clean towel, preferably when damp to lock in the water molecules. This means, never having a dry face again. This also preps your skin for the next step, absorbing ingredients deeper into the skin.

Step 3: Serum and/or moisturizer

A serum packed with vitamins is ideal, feel free to lock it in with a moisturizer to keep face as hydrated and glowing as it possible can be. Feel free to create a little face cocktail mixing both, and also feel free to drink a cocktail while prepping your skincare routine. After all, you are on vacation ;)

Step 4: Sunblock

This step ultimately locks in your routine and preps you for a worry-free day in the sun. You can apply an SPF with a tint in it to ease your makeup routine and go for a more natural look. Our last blog has answers to all of your SPF questions, if you’d like more SPF tips.

Before and after vacation: Exfoliate!

Before vacation, it helps to reveal your perfect skin. After vacation, removes toxins we consumed and gets rid of dead skin cells, bringing balance back to your beautiful face.

Extra tip:

Try to swap out your full size containers with samples of your favorite skincare. This helps lighten up the extra weight of your luggage, prevents TSA from taking away if bigger than 3.4 oz and you won’t break or lose our precious well-spent bottles. Feel free to ask your favorite stores for samples, you can also email us directly at contactus@maskmeadow.com or stop by our location and try new little goodies out to take on your trip. Last but not least, have fun! You are on vacation!
